Rev. William L. Courtney, Sr., also known as Daddy, Gang, Bo, Bill, Sr., Daddy Bill and Pops, 80, of North, South Carolina went to be with his Savior on Sunday morning, January 17, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of North on Saturday, January 23, 2021 with Rev. Shane McElrath officiating, assisted by Rev. John O’Cain. William was born February 22, 1940 in Aiken County, a son of the late Felder and the late Bessie Collins Courtney, who raised him in a small community which he lovingly called Hollow Creek, near Wagener, SC. Rev. Courtney was a member of First Baptist Church of North.He was part owner of the former North Auto Supply, LLC.He was a member of North Lodge #119 and served as Past Master for seven years.He served for seven years in the SCARNG.He was in the ministry of the Gospel for 50 years beginning as pastor of Hilda First Baptist Church, Hilda, SC, Old Mt. Herman Baptist Church near Wagener, SC., Corinth Baptist Church near North, SC. and Springtown Baptist Church near Bamberg, SC. William was presently serving as Sunday School teacher for Tyler Restmore Assisted Living in Orangeburg which is a ministry of First Baptist Church of North.He was also honored to serve as “Pastor” of Carrigg Manor Nursing facility in Bamberg, SC. for many years before its closure, as well as the Orangeburg Nursing Home in Orangeburg for five years. He leaves behind his wife, Mary Addison Courtney of the home, two children, Bill, Jr. of North and Susan C. Rudd of Clarksville, TN as well as six grandchildren; Hannah Courtney, Cordova, SC, Brittany Rudd, Wilmington, NC, Randy Rudd, Jr., Cumberland Furnace, TN, Angie (Andrew) Suggs of Cunningham TN, Kayla (John) Riley of Clarksville, TN and Jonathon Rudd of Clarksville, TN; great grandchildren, Sophie and Hunter Suggs, Cunningham TN and Harper Riley of Clarksville, TN.He was predeceased by sisters; Evelyn (Ed) Gleaton, Ollie Mae (Julian) Woodward and Mary (Tommy) Davis.
