Virginia Young Berry

Virginia Young Berry, 85, of Swansea was welcomed into her eternal home on Saturday, July 16, 2022. She was surrounded by those who loved her most when she departed her earthly home. Mrs. Berry was born in Springfield, S. C., a daughter of the late Henry Nathan Young and the late Ola Lee (Tindal) Young. Virginia loved her family with all of her heart, especially her grandson Jadon. She retired from Discount Drugs of Swansea. She was a lifelong resident of Swansea and a faithful servant of Swansea First Baptist Church. Her legacy will live on forever. To know Virginia was to love her. Survivors include her husband, Donald Franklin Berry of sixty years. A daughter, Donette Kirkland; grandson, Jadon Kirkland; brother Samuel Whetstone; sister Dell (L.A.) Crim; brother-in-law, Earl Toole, sister-in-law; Sarah Whetstone and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mrs. Berry was predeceased by her sisters Henrietta Toole, and Jewel Baker and a brother, Wilson Whetstone. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Swansea First Baptist Church 145 S. Church St. Swansea, SC 29160 with Rev. Terry Wilder officiating. Burial will follow in Melrose Memorial Gardens 1800 Southbound Road Swansea, SC 29160. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, July 18, 2022 at Swansea First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home, North, S. C. is assisting the family.
