Spencer D. Saylor

Spencer D. Saylor, 82, died Monday, June 30, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, at Oak Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah Gibson and Rev. Dane Morehead officiating.Burial will be in the church cemetery.The casket will be placed in the church at 10:00 a.m. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bonami Club. Mr. Saylor was born in Swansea, a son of the late Vandy V. and Allie Furtick Saylor.He attended the Swansea school system without missing one day for the full 12 years of attendance.He was retired from Carolina Eastman.He was a charter member of the Sandy Run Community Center.Mr. Saylor was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Annie Laurie Cook Saylor, a son, Derwin (Teresa) Saylor, a daughter, Christi (Jimmie) Whitaker; granddaughters, Miranda (Matt) Stoner, Paige Saylor, Tori Saylor and Brooke (Brent) Shumpert; great-granddaughter, Olivia Stoner; and one brother, Larkin Saylor.He was predeceased by a daughter, Tami Saylor and six brothers. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church Thursday before the service. Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Methodist Church.
