Rev. Samson Chavis

Rev. Samson Chavis, 92, of West Columbia, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 13, 2023, at Souls Harbor Full Gospel Church, 926 Williams St., West Columbia, S. C. 29169 with Rev. H. Larry Jones and Rev. Kevin McClendon officiating.  Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens, 820 W. Dunbar Road, West Columbia, S. C. 29170. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 12 noon – 1:00 PM at the church.

Rev. Chavis was born in Pelion, S. C., a son of the late Gene Sharpe and the late Vernalee Cooper.  Rev. Chavis was a retired minister and Founder of Souls Harbor Full Gospel Church, a loving father, loving grandfather, loving preacher who never met a stranger.

Survivors include sons, Thomas Chavis and Danny (Patricia) Chavis; grandchildren, Samson (Kathy) Chavis, Chasity Chavis, Carla Chavis and Nathan Chavis, Kimberly (Ronnie) Sandy, Debra (Antonio) Tirado and April (Jimmy) Stukes; 15 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.  Rev. Chavis was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Chavis and brothers and sisters.
