Russell "Gene" Sharpe

Russell “Gene” Sharpe, 78, of Pelion, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church in Swansea with Rev. H. Larry Jones officiating.Burial will be in the church cemetery.The casket will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM. Mr. Sharpe was born in Lexington County, a son of the late Clarence Wilkes and Hazel Mahan Sharpe.He was a member of the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sarah Jean Argoe Sharpe, three sons, Stanley (Sue) Sharpe, Dwayne (Angela) Sharpe and John (Diane) Sharpe; brother, Leon Sharpe and sisters, Sarah Mochell and Betty Pound; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and also a number of brother and sister in-laws.He was predeceased by two brothers, T. C. Sharpe and Bob Sharpe; three sisters, Louise Ulmer, Francis Aulabaugh and Shirley Herlong.He also leaves behind his devoted dog, Oscar. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, December 11, 2015 at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) and other times at the home of Sarah Sharpe, 145 Carey Rd., Pelion.
