Robert Augustus "Gus" Hydrick

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Augustus "Gus" Hydrick Sr., who departed this world on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on Wednesday, May 31st, 1939, in Lexington County, South Carolina.

Gus was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his devoted son, Robert "Robby" Hydrick Jr. and his wife, Colleen; his cherished grandson, Blake Hydrick; and his beloved step-sons, Douglas and his wife Kathryn Harley, and Buddy and his wife Jeanne Harley.

Preceding Gus in death were his father, Henry M. Hydrick; his mother, Ernestine Yon Hydrick; his loving wife, Gail "Patsy" Hydrick; his sister, Katharine Hydrick Wilson; and his brother, John Franklin "Frank" Hydrick.

Gus was known to many as a skilled diesel mechanic who took pride in his work. His passion extended beyond his profession; he enjoyed golfing, fishing, and bowling, often sharing these joys with friends and family.

A funeral service honoring Gus's life will take place on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at 4:00 pm at the Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at the same location from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Arrangements for the services are being provided by Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Epworth Children's Home or Crescent Hospice Anderson, SC, reflecting Gus's lifelong commitment to caring for others and supporting his community.

As we remember Gus, let us celebrate a life well-lived and the enduring love he shared with all those around him. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
