Ramona Riley Atkins

Ramona Riley Atkins, 71, of St. Matthews, S. C. passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1130 Calvary Church Rd, Swansea, S. C. 29160 with Rev. Donna Lollis and Rev. Bruce Rucker officiating.

Mona led a life deeply rooted in love for her family and friends. Hosting family gatherings at her home was a cherished tradition and her bond with all of her grandchildren was the most important aspect of her life. Farm-living was definitely the life for her. She enjoyed her garden, flowers, and animals - especially her horses. Mona was an avid rider, and relished every moment she could to enjoy nature’s beauty on horseback. Her involvement in the community will be deeply missed, as she was the president of the local Clemson extension, a lifelong member of 4H, and an active member of her church. Mona’s radiant smile, infectious laughter, tough love, and candid opinions about everything will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Atkins, Lynn Atkins and Sarah (Casey) Atkins Owen; grandchildren, Brooklynn Atkins, Madison Atkins, Brenlyn Atkins, Magdalyn Atkins, Reina Owen and Laird Owen; sisters, Linda Riley (Richard) Bobo and Becky (Bruce) Rucker; brothers, Thad (Susan) Riley, Steve (Cindy) Riley and Doug (Christy) Riley and a host of beloved family and friends. She was a daughter of the late Thadeus Haigler Riley and Faye Laird Riley.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home, North, S. C. 29112.
