Norman Gene Perry, 70, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Lexington Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.
Gene as he was known, was born in Hemmingway, SC, on February 6, 1952 to the late Norman Henson Perry and Dorothy (Dot) Lee Perry Poston. He was a member of Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church in Neeses, SC. He retired from Delta Mills in 2005 after 30 years of service. His favorite past times are cutting grass, piddling with lawnmowers and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an avid Phase 10 card player and Clemson fan. He had a special place in his heart for his fur babies; his dogs Darla and Gremlin and his cats Tinkerbell, Peter Pan and Tiger.
Survivors include his loving wife of 16 years, Alice Perry of the home; children, Joey (Dana) Perry of Florence, SC, Carla Perry (Keith Jeffords) of Evergreen, SC, Angie (Jason) Rodgers of Effingham, SC, and Jada (Trey) Still of Springfield, SC; siblings, Robbie (Lynn) Perry and Katie (Randy Haynes, both of Pamplico, SC, Mike (Terry) Poston of Conway, SC, David (Marie) Poston and Jowendel (Pat) Watson, both of Pamplico, SC; a special sister-in-law, Sylvia Perry (Neil) Porter of Johnsonville, SC; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and “Peanut” to be born in November, 2022; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Barbara Floyd, Carroll Baggett, Bobbie Bazen and Carroll Weaver.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Weaver Perry; his dad, “Pop” James Doris Poston; brothers, Tracey Perry and J.D. “Bubba” Poston, Jr.; a sister, Rachel Poston; and good friends, Carroll Filyaw and Barbara Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church, Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Henry Chavis, Rev. Legrand Taylor and Rev. Samuel Leonard officiating. The casket will be place in the church one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Hicks Hill Cemetery, 1928 W. Old Number 4 Highway, Scranton, SC 29591 at 4:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Friday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North.
