Miriam M. Proctor, 83, of Canaan Community died Friday, March 7. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 10, at Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Alan A. Woodward and Rev. Odell Breland officiating.Burial will be in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Rodney Proctor, Jewell Proctor, Dukes Proctor, Bruce Proctor, Larry McAlhany, Sub McAlhany, H. L. Proctor, and Harry McAlhany. Mrs. Proctor was born in Branchville, a daughter of the late Otis Henry and Bessie Hill McAlhany.She was a homemaker and farmer and enjoyed cooking and gardening.She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church. Survivors include husband Floyd C. (Pete) Proctor of the home; her children Henry F. Proctor of Jonesboro, Maine, Kay (Rick) Stroman of Cope, Ralph W. (Becky) Proctor of Reevesville, and David A. (Jane) Proctor of Cope; grandchildren Renee Jeffcoat, Trey Dickson, Michelle Antley, Zeb Proctor, Nicki Doremus, Kimberly Stroman, Amanda Little, Christen Beal, Jonsey Proctor, Whitney Beal, Caroline Proctor, Reeves Proctor and Leanna Proctor; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Monday at the church before the service (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) and other times at the home at 744 Banning St. in the Canaan Community. The family extends special thanks to her caregivers Vernelle Folk, Amanda Williams, Dena Sease, Luvine Myers, Shirley Hair, and Grove Park Hospice. Memorials may be made to Canaan Baptist Church or Grove Park Hospice. Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North is in charge of arrangements.
