Minnie L. Godwin Lucas, 86 years young, of Gaston, was welcomed into her eternal heavenly home while surrounded by her family on October 1, 2024. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Jessie and Mary Ann Hooker Godwin on February 16, 1938. She held many roles in life. She was a very hard worker and retired from the shipping and receiving department at Stone Manufacturing after 28 years. She was a very devoted wife and mother. Her true passion was her family, especially taking care of her children and grandchildren over the years. She loved watching the birds that came to visit daily. She always loved making sure that everyone else's needs were met before her own. Survivors include her children, Debby McCary, James Milo Lucas, Cathy (Lance) Loyd, Teresa (Norman) Snelgrove and Donna (Larry) Williamson; grandchildren, Steven Spires, Michael Lucas, Tracy (Christi) Spires, Norman (Candy) Snelgrove, Jr., Luke (Rachel) Snelgrove, Justin (Kirby) Williamson, Kayla (Brandon) Jackson and Oneal (Brandy) Livingston; great-grandchildren, Shannon Spires, Trenton (Ashley) Spires, Brock Spires, Olivia (Chase) Hoffman, Charleston Williamson, Cullen Williamson, Owen Jackson, Zachary Snelgrove, Caleb Snelgrove and Hayley Snelgrove; great-great-grandchildren, Tyler Turner and Lane Spires; a sister, Mamie Owens; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, James Marion Lucas; a sister, Mary Joyce Hutto, son-in-Laws, Stephen O. Raulerson IV and Gerald McCary; a special companion, David Bruner; and her loving cat, Bud. Private services will be held at Southland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The family would like to thank the Three Oaks Hospice staff and a special thanks to Kristy McKellar for her exceptional love and care provided during this difficult time.
