Llewellyn Smith Shivers

Llewellyn Smith Shivers, age 80, passed away on May 26, 2018, at her home in Gaston, SC. Mrs. Shivers was born in Lexington County, SC, a daughter of the late Howard and Gladys Sharpe Smith. She was married to the late Donald Erskine Shivers, her childhood sweetheart, for sixty years. Llewellyn was a devoted wife, caring mother, and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Erskine, and sister, Margaret Smith Balch. She is survived by her three children, Howard Carson “Rusty” Shivers, Charleen (Drayton) Bailey, and Donna (George) Morrow; eight grandchildren, Renee Shivers Reed, Michelle (Wayne) Hopper, Alonzo (Eliza) Shivers, Kristi (Mark) Etzkorn, Rachel Shivers, Zack Morrow, Reece Bailey, and Marci Morrow; seven great-grandchildren, Jimmy (Carlie) Reed, Elizabeth Reed, Matthew Reed, Gracie Lechnar, James Smith, Cash Hopper, and Olivia Etzkorn; two sisters, Sara (William) Payne and Emily (Lloyd) Hatfield; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service and burial will be held at Beulah United Methodist Church, 1577 Old State Road, Gaston, SC 29053 (off I-26 exit 119, toward St. Matthews) on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.Her request was that visitation and a meal take place in the fellowship hall after the service.Everyone in attendance is invited to join the family for the visitation and meal.The family will also receive friends at the home.
