Lillie Mae “Granny” Church, 69, of Gaston, passed away peacefully at her home in Gaston on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, after a long battle of multiple illnesses. The celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Clendaniel, II.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The casket will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Along with other friends, whom knew her as Granny and she considered as her extended family, Scott Black, Tony Hoffman, Ashley Johnson, Scottie Kirkland, Mike Martin and Van O’Cain will serve as pallbearers. She is survived by five children O’Neal (Lynn) Crout of North, Barbara (Mike) Jeffcoat of Swansea, John Henry (Deloris) Crout of Vance, Beth (Wendell) Hoffman of Gaston and David (Wendi) Crout of Gaston;her grandchildren Christina Jeffcoat (Mike) Gambrill of Swansea, Bud Cushman of Gaston, Stephen (Catherine) Jeffcoat of Swansea, Matthew Hoffman of Gaston and Ryan Crout of North; her great-grands, Alex Gambrill, Jesse Gambrill and Easton Gambrill. Mrs. Church was born in Richland County one of ten children born to the late Edmund Lee and Katherine Campbell Lee Branham; four sisters, Molly Gunter of Perry, Magaline Wymer of Ridgeway and the late Peggy Lee and Mary Crout; five brothers, Buddy Lee of Elgin, Ervin Lee of Hopkins, Herman Lee and Larry Lee both of Lugoff and the late Fred Lee.She was preceded in death by her husband Guy Roosevelt Crout in 1969 and her second husband Jack Church in 1991. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, in the Fellowship Hall of Ebenezer UMC. Memorials may be made to the church where they will be used for children’s events.
