Lillian Chavis Whittle, 90, of Columbia, died Sunday, June 8, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery in North with Rev. Don Studebaker officiating. Mrs. Whittle was born in Orangeburg County the daughter of the late Emmet Lee and Lex Chavis.She was retired from Bayview Baptist Church, Child Development Center in Columbia, S.C.She also previously worked for Horseman Doll Company in Cayce, SC. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra W. (Allen) Hughes of Washington, NC; son, Thomas (Chuck) Whittle of Travelers Rest, SC; grandsons, Sean D. Whittle of West Columbia, SC, Allan D. Hughes of Oxford, NC, and Wesley C. (Amy) Whittle of Charleston, SC; great-grandsons, Evan and Chase Whittle of Charleston, SC; sisters, Gladys C. Martin and Vona Lee Williamson, of Woodford, SC and Ona Lee Chavis of West Columbia, SC; brother, Thomas Chavis of Summerville, SC and special cousin, Martha Dykes of Swansea, SC.She was predeceased by her husband Thomas E. Whittle, Jr.; son, Dale Alvin Whittle; sisters, Catherine C. Wood and Margaret C. Williams and brothers, Lee Roy Chavis, Emmet (Jr.) Chavis and Lee Conner Chavis. The children would like to thank her sisters, nieces and Vickie for the love and kindness shown to their mother.
