Leitha Chavis Sturkie

Leitha Chavis Sturkie, 89, of Swansea, S. C. passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. She was born on June 3, 1933. She was married for seventy years to James Sturkie, Jr.

Graveside services to honor Leitha will be held at 1:00 PM, April 27, 2023 at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Jeffcoat officiating. Her body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at which time the family will receive friends.

Mrs. Sturkie is survived by her grandson, Jamie (Tammy) Sturkie; granddaughter, Lisa Morrow; great-grandchildren, Morgan Morrow. J. D. Sturkie; one great-great-grandson, Deacon Sturkie; a sister, Mary Ruth Jeffcoat and a host of nieces and nephews.

Leitha was predeceased by her husband, James Sturkie, Jr.; son, David Sturkie; Mother and Father, Tommie Lee Chavis and Leila R. Chavis; brothers, Tommy Lee Chavis, Jr., Jack Chavis, Wilbur Chavis, Alvin “Buddy” Chavis, Harvey Chavis and sisters, Mildred Oliver and Ruby Raulerson.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Sturkie, J. D. Sturkie, Morgan Morrow, Johnny Raulerson, Paul Raulerson and Johnny Raulerson, Jr.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to Cathy Wright, her niece for everything she has done for the Leitha and her family.

Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay, a golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands are at rest! God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best.
