Larry Clyde Hilliard

Larry C. “Red” Hilliard, 82, of Temple, Texas., passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at his nephew and niece’s home surrounded by his family. A Memorial Service will be held 12 Noon on December 9, 2023, at the home of Ronald and Cassandra Moore, 491 Country club Road, Barnwell, S. C. 29812. Friends and family can reach out to Cassandra at 803-604-6253 for a Zoom link to attend the memorial service. Mr. Hilliard was born in Rocky Mount, N. C., a son of the late Ezekiel and the late Lila Hillard. Mr. Hillard served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War serving two tours of duty. He was a certified archery instructor and owned his own businesses: Hilliard’s Tree Care since 1970 and Tusker Bows where he sold his handmade bows and arrows. Mr. Hilliard was a member of the Central Texas Chapter of the Lone Star Bowhunters Association and was a member of the Bell County Archey Team and the Chisholm Trail Bowhunters club. He took part in several archery tournaments over the years and was known to his family as the renaissance man who went to South Africa on a bowhunting expedition. Mr. Hilliard was known to be hard-working, always the talker who never knew a stranger and loved to educate others about the wonderful world of archery. Survivors include his son, Anthony (Angela) Hilliard of Indiana and daughter, Lori (Cleveland) Travis of Indiana; 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 1 great granddaughter, 5 nephews, 6 nieces, 7 great nephews and 4 great nieces.
