Julene Laird Chavis

Julene Laird Chavis, 81, of Pelion, S. C. passed away at home surrounded by her closest family on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 6, 2024, at Southland Memorial Gardens, 700 W Dunbar Road, West Columbia, S. C. 29170.

Mrs. Chavis was born in Pelion, S. C., a daughter of the late Essie Spradley Laird and the late Thomas Camby Laird.  Mrs. Chavis was a member of Pelion Baptist Church.  Her hobbies included playing the piano and organ. Julene loved spending time with her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband, Marion Arthur Chavis, Sr.; her daughter, Lauran Taye Chavis; her son, Marion Arthur “Artie” (Christy) Chavis, Jr.; grandchildren, Randy (Jessica) King, Ricky (Jess) King, Joshua (Alisha) Chavis, Amber (Drew) Bishop and eight great grandchildren.  Mrs. Chavis was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Thomas Laird, Carl Murray Laird and Everette Laird.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pelion Baptist Church, P.O. Box 276, Pelion, S. C. 29123.

Pallbearers will be Randy King, Ricky King, Joshua Chavis, Drew Bishop, McDowell
Geddings and Dwayne Laird.  Honorary pallbearers are Dakotah King and Jacoby King.
