My one and only, such a loving, sweet and caring lady who's walking again, not struggling and no more pain, transitioned painlessly to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 90. Mom was born on Saturday, June 2, 1934. A cherished friend, she spent her life spreading love and kindness everywhere she went.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, John Gordon Culler Sr. and Gertrude Redmond Culler; her devoted husband, Truman Gilbert Wise; her son, Don Wise; and her brothers, John Gordon Culler, Jr., Willie Jennings Culler, and James Redmond Culler. She is survived by her loving daughter, Stella Wise.
A devoted member of the Eastern Star, Joyce worked at Stone Manufacturing and Shakespeare. She was a Christian and lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a member of United Methodist Women where she was vice president for 25 years and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed her time with Sandy Run Keenagers, going on many trips and outings. Years of support to the Gamecock Club and her devotion to making sure Don was there to see the Gamecocks play. Mom was known for her cake baking with many request during the holidays, a favorite being her chocolate torte cake. Her gardening was a testament to her love for nature.
Known to many as "Momma Joyce", her smile and warm heart touched many. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A special loving "Thank You" to her caregivers Ms. Emma, Ms. Joan, Ms. Thawaunda and Ms. LuMeisha. Your devotion to my mom speaks volumes for your years of caregiving. Thank you also to 3 Oaks Hospice.
Donations may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 1130 Calvary Church Road, Swansea, SC 29160, in recognition of the love and faith that defined Joyce’s life. Services will be private.
