Joyce Frederick Goodwin

Joyce Frederick Goodwin, 74, of Gaston, SC passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 after an extended illness.She was the beloved wife of Perry M. Goodwin, Sr. for 56 years. Joyce was born in Wagener, SC on August 18, 1942 and was predeceased in death by her loving parents William Cecil Frederick and Annie Laura Reynolds Frederick.She is survived by her husband of the home; sons, Anthony (Jennifer) Goodwin, Mitchell (Tonya) Goodwin and daughter, Laurie Goodwin; five grandsons, Christopher Goodwin, Nicholas Goodwin, Gavan Goodwin, Sean Goodwin and Matthew Hook; three granddaughters, Laurel Goodwin, Meranda Hook and Maegan Hook; three great-grandchildren and two brothers, Jimmy (Virginia) Frederick and Jamie (Janet) Scott; sister-in-law, Catherine (Edward) Hutto, Georgia Fogle; brother-in-law, Harold (Joanne) Goodwin and best friend, Mary Sharpe.She was predeceased by two brother-in-law’s, Charles (Betty) Goodwin and Donald Goodwin. She was a faithful church member and played the piano in several churches for 59 years.She loved and cherished her church family.Some of her most cherished memories were spent on mountain trips with her friends.She enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren were the lights of her life. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Williams and Rev. Calvin Snelgrove officiating.Burial will be in the church cemetery.The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) and other times at 906 Sharon Church Road, Gaston, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The National Stroke Association or The American Diabetes Association.
