Joseph John Strickland

Joseph John Strickland, 77, of Swansea, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Monday, October 1, 2018 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Salley with Rev. David Pell officiating.Burial will be in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Swansea.The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Mr. Strickland was born in Groton, Connecticut, a son of the late Florence Eva Oakes Strickland.He was a scout sniper during the Vietnam War and retired from AT&T Nassau as a supervisor. Survivors include his daughter, Sheena (James) Vencill; grandchildren, Lindon Vencill, Dylan (Brianna) Strickland, Hunter Vencill and Kandace Vencill.He was predeceased by a sister, Amy LaValley and a grandson, Wyatt Vencill. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) in North and other times at 969 Delray Drive, North.
