John Wayne Grandy

John Wayne Grandy, 62, won his battle Sunday, February 7, 2016, while surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Jeffcoat officiating.Burial will be in Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia, SC. Mr. Grandy was born in Aiken County, SC, the son of the late Ashley Shealy and Ruth Widener Grandy.He was the former owner of John’s Truck and Auto Repair for over 25 years.He loved repairing and restoring classic cars and trucks for which he won many trophies.John was an avid fisherman and hunter.It was said that he could catch a fish in a mud puddle.He dearly loved his family and they dearly loved him.He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Phyllis Starnes Grandy; daughters, Tracy G. Brower and Robin Grandy (Mike Lee); beloved grandson, Alex Brower; beloved mother and father-in-law, Johnnie and Evelyn Starnes; sisters-in-law, Gwen Lee and Darlene Worthy; brother-in-law, Stanley Starnes; brothers, Mike Grandy (Karen) and Mark Grandy (Joy); sister, Jenny Williams (Doug); nieces and nephews, Ashley, John, Christy, Tommy, Charlie, Brandi, Dusty, Sondra, Deidre, John Paul, Darla, John, Benji, Carlee-Bug.He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Grandy, nephew, Michael Boyd Grandy and great-nephew, Logan Grandy. The family will receive friends at the home, 351 South Main Street, Gaston, SC.Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) of North is assisting the family with arrangements.
