Herman Emmette Jackson, 85, husband of the late Jeanette Hutto Jackson passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2 PM at Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Legrande Taylor and Rev. Henry Chavis officiating.The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.Visitation will be January 19, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North and other times at the home. Emmette was born in Orangeburg County on March 20, 1932, the son of Altee and Sallie Jackson. He was a member of Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a faithful member until his decline in health.As a younger man, he enjoyed quail hunting and fishing with his sons-in-law which made for many interesting fish tales.He loved to watch football, especially the Gamecocks and looked forward to The Price is Right each day. Emmette was a veteran of the Army.He retired from J.F. Cleckley & Company after 40 years of service.Upon his retirement he built a home on Lake Murray for all his family to enjoy.His favorite activity was to just sit in the front porch swing. Survivors include daughters Debbie McCollum (Don) and Delaine Baker (Stanley) of North, and ElaineMcCollum (Ron) of Gaston; granddaughters Holly Daniels (Jeremy) of North and Courtney Baker (Jeremy Langford) of North; great grandchildren Danika and Carter Daniels, Makayla Langford and his namesake Jackson Reid Langford all of North; and a brother, Harvey Jackson (Sheila) of Springfield. He was predeceased by sisters Mary Eidson and Martha Hargrove, and a brother, Frank Jackson. The family wants to express special thanks to Janice McDaniel and Erica Knight for taking such good care of Daddy the past few years.
