Grace Spires Barton

Mrs. Grace Spires Barton, 97, who was a beloved and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother entered into rest on August 4, 2021 at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC. Mrs. Barton was the daughter of the late Cassie Lowe Spires and Hastings Spires. She was married for 58 years to the late James C. Barton, to whom she was known as his Amazing Grace. Mrs. Barton was born in Windsor, SC and was a graduate of Windsor High School.After graduation, she began working as a Purchasing Agent for the Graniteville Company where she maintained a fulltime schedule, yet always made it a priority to attend both of her daughters' school activities.She retired after 35 years. Above all, her family was her pride and joy.Her love and affection for her family and friends was unmeasurable and her graciousness, kindness and loving nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Barton is survived by her daughters Colleen (Lee) Williams of Norway, SC and Karen (Ronnie) Abney of Oviedo, FL, grandchildren Ashley (Trevor) Benton, Govie (Sharon) Williams, Carmen (Sam) Drexler, James Abney, Daniel Abney, Michael (Elizabeth) Abney and 6 great-grandchildren. Due to Covid, a celebration of Life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at First Baptist Church of Montmorenci Cemetery family plot in Montmorenci, SC.
