Gladys Cooper Smith

Gladys Smith, 98, of North, SC, entered into Heaven on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 31, 2018 at Livingston United Methodist Church, 1342 Silverspring Road in Livingston.The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Mrs. Smith was born in Orangeburg County, SC on June 22, 1920 to the late Milton and Polly Cooper.She was married to the late Willie Ervin Mitchum and the late Mendel Livingston Smith.She was an active member of Livingston United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years.She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was the “rock” of her family and will be deeply missed. Survivors include her daughter, Delores (Goldie) Harmon; son, Willie Rayford Mitchum, five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, a great-great-great-grandchild on-the-way and brothers, Richard (Grace) Cooper and Norman (Patsy) Cooper.She was predeceased by a daughter, Levern Branham, two grandchildren, five brothers and five sisters. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) in North, SC.
