George Mackey Martin

George Mackey Martin, 79, of Neeses, S. C. passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Homeward Bound Ministries 4082 Norway Road, Norway, SC 29113 with Rev. Bud Judy officiating. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery with Military Honors. Family will receive friends from 2:00 PM- 3:00 PM one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Martin was born in Orangeburg, SC, a son of the late James Kennerly and the late Estelle Lowry Kennerly. He retired from Bell South after 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, Pappy Rabbit, loved to play golf, an avid Gamecock fan and was an Air Force Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Jennie Salley Martin; two daughters Lisa M. (Alec) Cave of Bolentown and Stephanie Martin (Brad) Kinard of Barnwell; two step daughters, Regina (TJ) Chaudoin of Greenwood and Roxane (Richard) Wilson of Odum, GA; five grandchildren Haley Cave, Alexandra Cave, Stephen Kinard, Branden Kinard and Branna Kinard; four step grandchildren Summerlyn Ramey, Stephen Ray, Jenna Chaudoin and Michael Whitlock; a number of great grandchildren; one sister, Sandra (Ray) Jameson; three brothers, William “Dubby” Martin, Mike (Brenda) Martin and Danny Kennerly; a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin was predeceased by three sisters Ruby Scott Burkhalter, Susie Ryan and Jean Reeves; three brothers Dean Martin, Billy Martin and Earnest Martin. The family would like to thank the staff of Edisto Hospice, Patriot Hospice and Veterans Victory House of Walterboro.
