Francis Marion Sturkie

Francis Marion Sturkie, 80, of Gaston, S. C. passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Gaston First Baptist Church with the Rev. Brady Henderson officiating. Mr. Sturkie was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Bennie R. Sturkie and the late Mary Mae Howell Sturkie.He retired as a Superintendent at McCrory Construction after 49 years of service. Survivors include his children, Mary Lou (Wayne) Starnes, Peggy McAdams, Tammy (Adrian) Mann; a step-son, Skip Smith; grandchildren, Michael Starnes, Amber Starnes, Kimberly (John) Poehler, Melissa Moore, Rebecca Wofford, Jessica (John) Brown, Heather (Doug) Rozelman, Stacey (Mark) Pierce, Chris (Kit) Crocker and numerous great grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Mae Gantt and Bertha Mae Hutto.Mr. Sturkie was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Ann Sturkie and a brother, Hugo Sturkie. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, October 6 at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the American Heart Association.
