Mr. Floyd C. “Pete” Proctor, 92, lifelong resident of Canaan Community, passed away on Tuesday night, December 11, 2018. Pete was a hardworking farmer all his life with his wife and family at his side.He spent many days at the State Farmers Market and was a charter member of the Fork Hunting Club, which he helped organize in the late 1950’s.He loved hunting, fishing and shrimping with many friends, especially his best friend Monroe Phillips.Pete will be missed by many people. He was born on April 11, 1926 in Orangeburg County, a son of the late Addren and Addie Smoak Proctor.He was married to and predeceased by Miriam McAlhany Proctor of Branchville.They were married for 65 wonderful years and raised four wonderful children.Surviving are his children Henry F. (Donnalee) Proctor of Jonesboro, Maine, Kay P. (Rick) Stroman of Canaan Community, Ralph W. (Becky) Proctor of Reevesville, SC and David A. (Jane) Proctor of Canaan Community; grandchildren, Michelle Antley, Zebulon Proctor, Amanda Little, Christen Beal, Whitney Beal, Caroline Proctor, Renee Jeffcoat, Trey Dickson, Nikki Doremus, Kimberly Stroman, Jonsey Proctor, Reeves Proctor and Leanna Proctor; and a number of great-grandchildren.He was also predeceased by five brothers, Ralph, Addren “Rock”, T. M. “Dink”, M. L. “Pie” and B. B. Proctor; and two sisters, Corrie Ashe and Mary Sue Inabinet. Funeral services will be held at Canaan Baptist Church on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Alan A. Woodward officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.Burial will be in the church cemetery. Honored to serve at pallbearers are H. L.
