She was often found working in her yard, and she would make cakes to share with people in the community in times of sickness and grief. Dot and her best friend Dean would share their love of God and Country by supporting our service men and women. From hanging yellow ribbons in our community to their Christmas box ministry, Dot and Dean devoted their time and energy to these service men and women. Along with these acts of service, Dot showed great affection for animals and was known to care for stray animals in the community. Dot’s love for children led her and her husband Billy to sponsor a child from Carolina Children’s Home, and they continued this relationship for years after the child was reconnected with his biological parents. Most importantly, Dot, known affectionately as “Mama Dot" by everyone, loved her family. Dot graduated from North High School and attended the University of South Carolina.
