Donald Erskine Shivers, 76, of Gaston, SC, died Saturday, December 7, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2013, at Beulah United Methodist Church in Sandy Run.Burial will be in the church cemetery.The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Pastor Shivers was born in Gaston, a son of the late Alonzo and Clara Shivers.He was Pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Orangeburg, Faith Baptist Church in Swansea and “the sweetest ministry God ever gave him” at the Barnyard Worship Service in Lexington.He was a pastor, cabinet-maker, mail carrier and owner of S&S Military Surplus. Pastor Shivers was a 1979 graduate of the Baptist College of Charleston which is now Charleston Southern University.He has served the Kingdom of God for 49 years celebrating his spiritual birthday on November 17, 1964. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Llewellyn Smith Shivers; a son, Howard C. (Rusty) Shivers; two daughters, Charleen (Drayton) Bailey and Donna (George) Morrow; grandchildren, Renee Shivers Reed, Michelle Hammack Hopper, Alonzo Shivers, Kristi Shivers Etzkorn, Rachel Shivers, Zack Morrow, Jonathan Reece Bailey, and Marci Morrow; great-grandchildren, Jimmy Reed, Elizabeth Reed, Matthew Reed, Gracie Lechnar, James Smith and Cash Hopper; one brother, Davis (Dee) Shivers.He was pre-deceased by Hilda Goodwin, William Shivers, Mary Stroman, Annie Chavis and Dorothy Crowe. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Beulah United Methodist Church in Sandy Run or at the home.
