David Stewart Owens, 79, of Gaston, SC, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018. Mr. Owens was born in Monroe, NC on September 2, 1939.He was married to the late Ann S. Owens.He was a loving father, “Poppy”, husband and best friend.He was stubborn and he loved all churches. Survivors include his daughters, Karen (Lonnie) Slater, Janie (Robert) Peele, and Christy (John) Taylor, grandchildren; Leon Slater, Dallas (Jay) Peele, Troy (Savannah) Peele, Raychelle Taylor, Johnathan Tedder and Drake Taylor. one great-grandchild, Hunter Allen Peele, sisters: Remona Raines, Patricia Martin, Nancy Piccolo, and Mattie Powell. He had many nieces and nephews that he loved deeply. He was predeceased by his father and mother James W. Owens, Sr. and Ethaline W. Owens and siblings; Albert Owens, James “Jim” Owens, Rosalee Daniels, Patsy Dowd, Eugene Owens, Victoria “Vickie” Chapman, Donald Owens, Henry “Eddie” Owens.
