Claude Lucas, Jr., 87, of Gaston, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Holland Avenue Baptist Church, 801 12th Street, Cayce, with Rev. Dow Welsh officiating.Burial will be in Gaston Evangelical Church Cemetery, 1344 Mack Street, Gaston.The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 at the church before the service. Mr. Lucas was born in Lexington, SC, a son of the late Claude and Carrie Bell Mack Lucas, Sr.He was a member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church, American Legion Post 156 and served in the Air Force with the rank of Airman 1st Class during the Korean War.He was a champion Bluegrass fiddle player and won numerous awards.He was a member of the Lucas and Harmon Brothers Band and also the Claude Lucas Band.He worked at Pacific Mills for eighteen years and later retired as a brick mason.Mr. Lucas was married to the late Melba Sightler Lucas. Survivors include a daughter, Claudette Lucas of Gaston; son, Jimmie (Linda) Lucas of Gaston; a special friend, Lois Inabinet; sister, Barbara Hudson of Simpsonville, KY; brothers, Harold Lucas of Sandy Run and Bryant Lucas of Burnsville, NC; three grandchildren, Brent Williamson, Shaun Williamson and Chantz R. Lucas; and one great-grandchild, Cassidy Williamson.He was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Ray and Mary Brown; and two brothers, Clyde Lucas and William “Wick” Lucas.
