Cheryl Rae Chavis, 71, of Swansea, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North. Burial will follow at Mount Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Neeses. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M., Saturday before the service at Culler-McAlhany Funeral home in North. Ms. Chavis was born in Lexington County, a daughter of the late M.C. and Eula Metze Chavis. Cheryl was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always knew how to have a good time. She was a very unselfish person who did for everyone else and also raised four of her grandchildren. Survivors include her lifelong companion, Ben “Slick” McIver; daughters, Tonia McIver and Kim Kirby; a son, Ben McIver, Jr.; grandchildren, Stacey Kirby, Ashley (Chris) Lucas, Charles (Lindsey) Kirby, Katie, Lauren McIver, Megan McIver, Cameron “Boo” McIver and Kaileigh McIver; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Aubrey, Lilly, Easton, Cayden, Harper, Brayden, Bryson, Killian, Elijah, and Lyla; brothers, Arthur (Julene) Chavis, Lewis Chavis, Tracy (Valarie) Chavis and Paul (Frankie) Chavis; and a sister, Phyllis (Steve) Harvey. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Katie McIver Jones; a son-in-law, Woody Kirby; and a brother, Charles Chavis.
