Charles David Sturkie

Charles D. Sturkie, 84, of St. Matthews, S. C. passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, 501 Church St., West Columbia, S. C. 29172 with Rev. Gene Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be at 10:00 AM- one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Sturkie was born in Lexington County, a son of the late Charlie Sturkie and the late Nettie Lela Shumpert Sturkie. Mr. Sturkie served our country in the United States Air Force.  He loved the Lord, his family, his church, reading his Bible and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Johnson Sturkie; children, Rita (Donnie) Fanning, Randy (Raye) Arant and Rhonda (Bill) Epting; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Rev. Carl (Camilla) Sturkie, Brice Sturkie, Betty Rish and Carolyn (Jerry) Henderson; 33 nieces and nephews and a large number of great nieces and nephews. Mr. Sturkie was predeceased by siblings, Christolee Jones, Albert Sturkie, James W. Sturkie, Etheridge Daniel (E. D.) Sturkie and Patricia Myra Sturkie.

Pallbearers will be Danny Jones, Wade Sturkie, Bryan Sturkie, Randy Arant, Donnie Fanning and Eric Caulder.
