Bobbie Jean F. Laird

Bobbie Jean Laird, 89, of North, S. C. passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.  Born in Sandy Run, S. C. on Big Beaver Creek Road on January 21, 1935.  She was predeceased by her parents, Fletcher and Daisy Bell Rucker Ezekiel.  Also, predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Mamie Ward (Otto), Eula Mae Adams (Perry), Burly Ezekiel (Lucille) and J.C. Ezekiel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 16, 2024, with Rev. Sean McElrath officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.

Married to James H. Fair in 1952, predeceased and has two surviving children, Nancy Fair Dubose and David Henry Fair (Herb Poole).  Married to Sylvester Laird in 1969, predeceased.  Her Stepson, Gene Laird, predeceased.  Also surviving are numerous nephews and nieces, stepchildren, Annette Hendrix and Billy Laird and step grandchildren.

Mrs. Laird was employed in North, S. C. at Stone Manufacturing as an inspector for 40 years and retired in 1984.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of North, S. C. which she attended and tended the daycare nursery during church services for 40 years.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Martha Rae Downing (neighbor and best friend), Sara Wannamaker, Mary Brooks and Rev. Sean McElrath for their love and care.  Also, thanks to Amedisys Hospice – Diane RN, Robin LPN, Loretha CNA, and Katharine, CSW for their excellent care and service.

Her favorite thing was picking pecans and cracking them perfectly.  Everyone knew where to get pecans for the holidays.  She enjoyed watching the faith channels, working in the yard and having visitors in her home.  She always had a meal prepared when anyone arrived.

In lieu of flowers donations can be given to the First Baptist Church of North, P.O. Box 189, North, S. C. 29112 or to a Cancer Foundation of one’s choice.
