Ms. Bobbie Sturkie Cassidy, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Born on June 1, 1939 to Eugene Lee Sturkie and Lucille Hutto Sturkie, Bobbie was a resident of Swansea, South Carolina. She is survived by her husband Walter Royce Cassidy, and her daughter Beth Cassidy Sadowski and Beth’s husband Troy. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kayla Jeffcoat and her husband Justin, Zachary Sellers and his wife Gabrielle, and Gabrielle Sadowski and her fiancé Luke Watson, great grandchildren: Jackson and Caroline Jeffcoat, and Ethan Sellers, and her two brothers: Johnny Sturkie and his wife Ruby, and Rudy Sturkie. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Billy and Jimmy Sturkie, and son Walter Mark Cassidy. A special thank you to her in-laws R.L. and Linda Cassidy, and Billy and May Vaughn for faithfully visiting, and Ruby Sturkie, Linda Cassidy, and May Vaughn for being loving sisters to her. Bobbie graduated from Swansea High School and went on to a lengthy career at BellSouth. Beginning in the mailroom, she worked diligently over the years to work at many upper-level management positions. She retired in 1991 to spend time with her grandchildren and help with the family businesses. Bobbie attended Swansea First Baptist Church and faithfully served the Lord and her community in many ways, including teaching Sunday school, working vacation Bible school, leading Metallic Club, and helping with Ministry for Bibles. She had a servant’s heart and was especially drawn to the senior community, frequently giving of her time to deliver meals, visit people, and chauffeur those in need to various destinations. Her kindness and generosity impacted the lives of many and still does to this day. Bobbie’s gift of helps and giving was most beautifully exhibited to her family. As the only daughter, she would help take care of her four brothers while her mother worked. Even as she grew up and continued in life, she did not fail to maintain a steadfast relationship with her mom and enjoyed spending time with her. Her deep love and care for others was also demonstrated upon the birth of her grandson Zach. She and her granddaughter Kayla would often travel to Georgia on weekends for sweet fun and fellowship. In addition to her faithful service to God and others, Bobbie brought great joy to those around her through her radiant personality and witty humor. From sleepovers long ago with her nieces Renee and Tracy to her disposable camera at family gatherings to her love for her furry friends, we will always cherish our memories with her, and she will forever be held dear in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Swansea First Baptist Church. Visitation will be 1 – 2 pm in the fellowship hall of Swansea First Baptist Church on Friday, December 2, 2022. Memorial Service will begin at 2 pm in the church sanctuary.
