Billy Vance Vaughn

Billy Vance Vaughn, 86, of Sandy Run, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Mt. Zion Methodist Church 2349 Old State Road, Swansea, SC 29160 with Rev. James Lewis and Rev. Matt Rucker officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Mt. Zion Methodist Church.

Mr. Vaughn was born in Orangeburg County, son of the late Grover Cleveland "Cleve" Vaughn and the late Louise Blackman Vaughn.  He was the youngest of 6 children including three brothers and two sisters who preceded him in death.  While in high school, he excelled at basketball, baseball, football and participated in the North South basketball game.  He worked in construction for many years before becoming certified to teach building and construction at Airport High School where he was added to the Wall of Fame.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, May Cassidy Vaughn; children, Renee (George) Todd, Tracy Orr, Lia (Jim) Anderson, Billy (Glen) Vaughn, Jr. and Vicki (Chris) Wood; grandchildren, Erica (Josh) Chisolm, Brandon Orr, Aubrey (Ryan) Harper, Seth Wood, Haley (Evan) Cox and Amber (Chris) Brown; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Methodist Church.
