Billy Kentzler Rucker

March 10, 1941 — September 15, 2023

Billy Kentzler Rucker, 82, of Swansea, S. C. passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 18, 2023, at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Hardenbrook officiating.

Mr. Rucker was a son of the late James Kentzler Rucker and the late Vonalea Rucker.  Billy worked as an electrician, a frame carpenter, lineman, managed the family farm among many other volunteer and paid construction related jobs and projects.  He served in the Army National Guard with an Honorary discharge in 1972 and was also an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.  He loved his Swansea and Clemson Tigers, his family and community.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Judy Jumper Rucker; daughters, Lisa Rucker and Laurie (Brandon) Smith; four grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Payton Smith, Addison Smith and Evan Smith; a sister, Brenda Kay (Kary) Hoffman; sister-in-law, Deborah Rucker and a number of nieces and nephews.  Mr. Rucker was predeceased by a brother, Roddy Rucker.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hospice MSA and at Carroll Campbell Place for their compassionate care.
