Billie Tindal Sturkey

Billie Tindal Sturkey, 85, of Swansea, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 25, 2025 at Swansea First Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Elmore officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday in the church sanctuary.  Burial will follow at Melrose Memorial Garden in Swansea.

Mrs. Sturkey was born in Lexington County, a daughter of the late Willie "Bill" Lee Tindal and the late Eloise Ott Tindal. She was a life-long member of Swansea First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for thirty years.  Billie and her late husband Rudolph have a church named for them in Kenya, Africa.  She enjoyed shopping, traveling, reading and crocheting.  Billie retired from Stone Manufacturing after 38 years.  She was married to the late Lawrence "Rudy" Rudolph Sturkey for 66 years.

Survivors include her son, Randy (Jennifer) Sturkey; grandchildren, Katelyn (Nathan) Hill, Henry Sturkey, Jayden Rucker and Nick (Cassidy) Rucker; sisters, Sandra (Gene) Heatley and Linda (Allen) Chavis; nephew, Johnny Heatley; and life-long family friends, Bubba Rucker and Carolyn Slice.

Pallbearers will be John Sturkie, Joe Burns, Jeremy Wilder, Jason Leister, Robert Booth and Dale Mishoe.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers, Flora Robinson and Lesvia Gamez.
