Annie Mae Davis Dowd, 89, of Gaston passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Beaver Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilton Gleaton and Rev. Henry Chavis officiating.Burial will follow in the Davis Family Cemetery. Mrs. Dowd was born in Cameron, South Carolina, a daughter of the late George Robbie Chavis and the late Ethel Bryan Chavis.She was predeceased by her first husband, Woodrow Davis. She was survived by her beloved husband, Jack Dowd, who treated her like a queen.Mrs. Dowd graduated from Cameron High School.The family moved to Neeses, S. C. where her father had an influence in the building of Beaver Creek Baptist Church.Annie attended Beaver Creek Baptist Church where she followed in her mother’s footsteps and played the piano for 70 years and was a Sunday school teacher.She was employed by Bell South. Survivors include children, Alvin (Tina) Davis, Betty (Ricky) Williamson, Brenda (Steve) Boone, Denny Davis, Kenny (Sharon) Davis, Rose Davis; a step daughter, Jackie (Ronald) Greene; 16 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; brother, Rev. Henry (Vernell) Chavis; sister, Mary Torrence; brother, Jimmy (Jean) Chavis.Mrs. Dowd was predeceased by a grandson, Steven Boone, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Pallbearers will be Guy O’Neal, Nick Dantzler, Dustin Williamson, Cody Buff, Mike Buff and Jeffery Sightler. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church and others times at the home of Mrs. Annie Mae Davis Dowd.
