Anne Ulmer Simmons

Anne Ulmer Simmons, 91, of West Columbia, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Springdale Baptist Church in Springdale with Rev. Tommy McGill officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in North.The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Tuesday at Springdale Baptist Church Fellowship Hall before the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Mrs. Simmons was born in Woodford, a daughter of the late John S. and Annie Varn Ulmer.She was a member of Springdale Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.She served as president of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Western North Carolina District.She was a civil servant, a realtor and a volunteer.Mrs. Simmons was married to the late Charles A. Simmons, Jr. Survivors include four sons, Mike (Doris) Simmons, Robert A. (Nancy) Simmons, Gene (Brenda) Simmons and Jim (Betty) Simmons; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Caroline Ulmer and Johnnie Ulmer Price; and one brother, James S. Ulmer. Memorials may be made to Springdale Baptist Church for spreading the Good News.
