Alma Juanita Nicholson

Psalm 23:4 Mrs. Alma Juanita (Fallaw) Nicholson departed this earthly life into Eternal Rest after a long battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia on July 9, 2019 in Atlanta, GA. at the age of 89.Juanita was born in Pelion, SC on February 14, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lindsey B. Fallaw and Alma Argoe Fallaw. She is survived by her beloved husband of 69+ years, C. Frank Nicholson; sons Richard Marcus Nicholson and Philip Christopher Nicholson; daughters Cynthia Lee Nicholson and Melinda Nicholson Doolittle (James); and her three grandchildren Sydney Alexis Doolittle, Connor James Doolittle and Tyler Wesley Nicholson. Juanita had a long beautiful life full of love and generosity.Juanita attended Columbia College in Columbia, SC and graduated in June 1951.She taught school for a year in New Orleans, LA while her husband attended graduate school. In 1954, she and Frank moved to Atlanta, GA where she taught school.From 1955 to 1964 she and Frank adopted their four children and she became a very busy mother.In 1972 after the children began school Juanita went to work for the State of Georgia Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.She enjoyed her work and during her tenure she took advantage of an opportunity to go back to school and earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 1991 at the age of 61.She was admired by her colleagues and championed two court cases that stood for women's rights in the State of Georgia.Juanita retired from her position in 1996. Funeral services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 1477 W.E. Jeffcoat Rd., Swansea, SC29106 beginning at 11:00 am Friday, July 12, 2019 with the Rev. Calvin Snelgrove officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 Friday morning at the church before the service.Interment will follow the services in the church cemetery.
