Alice Elveen Murphy

Alice Elveen Murphy, 81, of Swansea, S. C. passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Good Shepard Cemetery, 150 Swansea Road, Swansea, S. C. 29160 with Rev. H. Larry Jones officiating.

Mrs. Murphy was born in Lake City, S. C., a daughter of the late Dallas Morris and the late Fannie Alma Lee Morris Brown.  She worked at Swansea Coffee Shop, Seaboard Diner and Lizard’s Thicket.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Eddie) Backman of Swansea, Vicki Murphy (Ronnie McCollum) of North, Harvey Murphy, Jr. of Swansea and Timmy Murphy of Swansea; grandchild, Calvin (Brooks) Backman of Columbia; great grandchildren, Emily and Levi Backman of Columbia; she helped raise two nephews, Johnnie Murphy (deceased) and Richard Murphy, his daughters, Megan and Matty Murphy and their mother, Lisa Fernandez; and sisters, Leona Jarrell of Savannah, Ga. and Judy (Mickey) Hammond of Columbia, S. C.  Mrs. Murphy was predeceased by a sister, Vendella McLaughlin and a brother, Edward Morris.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North, S. C.
