Alice Smith Cartin

Alice Smith Cartin, 81, of Gaston, SC passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

A celebration of life service will be held at Swansea First Baptist Church on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 4:00pm with the Reverend Matt Elmore and Reverend Terry Wilder officiating. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.

Mrs. Cartin was born in Gaston, SC on April 1, 1942 to the late Johnnie and Gladys Ott Spires.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her son, Anthony (Margie) Smith, daughters, Tammy Caudill, Traci (Allen) Rish, and Sherri (Tony) Kelly;  stepdaughter, Suzie (James) Cunningham; grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Lauren (Walt) Brann, Erin (Kyle) Taylor, Austin Caudill, Michael Rish, Adriane Miller, Marlaina Spencer, Alivia, Cecilia and Tennessa Cunningham; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia Taylor and Jaxson Brann. She is also survived by a brother, Steve Spires, and sister, Anne Koon. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Roy; brothers, Marion Spires, Ernest Spires, Ricky Spires and sister, Sandra Tindal.

She was a member of Swansea First Baptist Church. She worked at the Town Hall and the bank in Swansea for many years where she faithfully served her community. She loved family beach vacations, trips to the mountains, and spending every Sunday after church with her family. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She cared so deeply for her family and always put their needs above her own. She will be missed tremendously by all.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorial donations to be made to Swansea First Baptist Church.
